The Bioluminescent Bay - Caño Hondo - The Most magical attraction in Vieques, Puerto Rico
Puerto Mosquito, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world. The Vieques Bio Bay has been included on many lists as one of most romantic places in the world.The bioluminescent bay is a must to do while on the island, it is truly a magical experience. Fortin Conde de Mirasol - "El Fortin" If you want to learn about the history of the island and the struggle of Viequenses during the Navy years, then you must visit El Fortin during your stay. Fortin Conde de Mirasol was the last Spanish fort built in the Americas (1840's).Enjoy the tour of a history and art museum with exhibits on the history of the island's 4000 year old Indian culture, Vieques colonial history and the story of sugarcane farming. Faro Punta Mulas This beautifully restored lighthouse stands tall and proud on a hill point north of Isabel Segunda. It was built in 1896, and restored in 1992. As you walk up enjoy a beautiful vista of Isabel II, and the colorful boats of fisherman along the beautiful blue coast. El Faro Punta Mulas contains a small museum, which exhibits a collection of artifacts and photos of the island's history, the natural history of the coast, and marine time history. Laguna Kiani

Military Bunkers Built and hidden by grass into the hills of the west of Vieques you'll find hundreds of bunkers built by the NAF (Naval Ammunition Facility) which were used for storage. After you pass the Mosquito Pier on your right, keep driving and you'll find an unnamed road on your left. Puerto Ferro Archeological Site - Area Arqueològica Hombre de Puerto FerroThis area is where a 4000 year old skeleton was found and exhumed, now in exhibit at the Fortìn Conde de Marisol. To get to the grave site get on Hwy 997 and look for a sign about a quarter mile east of Sun Bay Beach, take the dirt road on the left, you will drive for a couple of minutes until you find the burial site surrounded by a fence. Archeologists have speculated that the skeleton was the body of one of Los Arcaicos (Archaics), which are Puerto Rico's earliest known inhabitants. If the controversy surrounding these remains is resolved, this could push back the date of inhabitants in the island to nearly two millennia.
300 Year Old Ceiba Tree / Silk Cotton Tree

Ruins of Playa Grande Sugar Plantation Located on the western coast of the island is the Ruins of Playa Grande Sugar Plantation. The Plantation has been claimed by lush tropical vegetation embracing the brick walls of the Mill. Tours are given by the Conservation Trust Museum in Esperanza, contact them if you would like a tour. If you would like to visit yourself the entrance is to the west of the ROTHR facility near Playa Grande Beach. You can visit the ruins by bike or walking through the trail starting at the road. The Vieques Conservation & Historical Trust

After a nice lunch in El Malecon in Esperanza stop by The Vieques Conservation & Historical Trust. They offer very interesting exhibits on marine life, the bioluminescent bay, and a small history museum that includes artifacts from the pre-ceramic period (3,000 B.C.E).
