Area Arqueològica Hombre de Puerto Ferro

This area is where a 4000 year old skeleton was found and exhumed, now in exhibit at the Fortìn Conde de Marisol. To get to the grave site get on Hwy 997 and look for a sign about a quarter mile east of Sun Bay Beach, take the dirt road on the left, you will drive for a couple of minutes until you find the burial site surrounded by a fence. Archeologists have speculated that the skeleton was the body of one of Los Arcaicos (Archaics), which are Puerto Rico's earliest known inhabitants. If the controversy surrounding these remains is resolved, this could push back the date of inhabitants in the island to nearly two millennia.
