We lived and operated a real estate business on Vieques for 21 years and flew hundreds of time with VAL for pesonal and business reasons. When my wife became critically ill in th e fall of 1989 shortly after a majore hurricane hit tthe area, it was a VAL pilot who evacuated her to a san Juan hospital in the middle of the bight.at no cost. They ran extra flights many times just to accomodate me to stay at the hospital and continue the business in Vieques. Some personnel at the airport will remember my wife, Laurel of Laurel real estate, the first really licensed broker on the island.
