Vieques, Puerto Rico

Hello my name is Roby and this is our happy wedding story.

Chris and I knew we wanted a small intimate wedding.  We didn't want to feel rushed, like the day slipped away in the blink of an eye. 

We knew that if we planned a "destination wedding"  we would have a chance to spend a week sharing our happiness with those who are closest to us.  It would also be a good time for our immediate families to spend some time getting to know each other.

When we started looking for venues, the idea of Puerto Rico came up.  Friends from Puerto Rico told us of this wonderful island 20 minutes off the coast, that most of the "Gringo's" don't know about, that is incredibly beautiful and unspoiled with wonderful beaches.

We started doing some research and we really wanted to get married in a special location that was warm,  with a casual beauty, nothing stuffy or formal. 

We wanted to feel the sand between our toes when we said "I do". and were pretty sure that we had found our "destination" right after we stepped foot on the island of Vieques.

 We immediately fell in love with Vieques and with each other all over again.

We loved the fact that it was not full of tourists.  That you could easily
explore the island and find a deserted beach.  There are a bunch of wonderful restaurants.  We loved the horses roaming around and the laid back way of the island.

We choose to celebrate our wedding in Vieques for some practical reasons as well.  There is always at least one family member or friend that is uneasy going to a strange place.  However, with Vieques, getting there is easy.  The airport is nice.  The roads are paved, and the water is good to drink.  And once everyone got there, the island won everyone over!

Our guests arrived on Saturday and Sunday.  Monday night everyone went on the Bio Bay boat.  Tuesday we had the rehearsal dinner at Tradewinds.

We were married at sunset on Thursday! 

We would highly recommend Vieques as a wedding destination to anyone looking for a special wedding that they and their guests will never forget.

 Those who couldn't go, can't believe how beautiful the pictures are, with the vibrant colors of the sunset, flowers and water.

We had a beautiful reception at Martineau Bay Resort

Our guests didn't begin to leave until Saturday, and we left Sunday morning.  It was perfect!
