Expect delays and inconveniences if you aretraveling to Vieques using the ferry. If you were taking the ferry dueto budget reasons, we recommend you drive to Fajardo, check thesituation for that day, and plan on taking a short flight from Ceiba forabout $30 per person. Worse case scenario: if you can't get to Viequesthat day, spend the night at Fajardo Inn and get to the terminal early.Unless you have to take the ferry due to budget reasons, we highly recommend that you fly to Vieques either from San Juan which is the most convenient or you may take a shorter and cheaper flight (about $28) from the Ceiba Airport.Those that had planned on taking the last ferry of the day are at themost risk especially on a holiday weekend, particularly Easter Week. Youcan take the chance of trying to get the ferry at the time you hadplanned, if it does not work out you can always drive to the airport andget a flight. The Fajardo Puerto Rican Port Authority 400 passenger ferries run between the town of Fajardo and Vieques several times a day. The ride generally takes about one hour and 15 minutes. The car ferry takes about two hours. The time may vary upon the boat you board and the weather conditions. Reservations - It is strongly recommend that you make reservations in advance by phone. Call the numbers above from 8:00am to 11:00 am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm Reportto the terminal at least one hour before departure. Itinerary issubject to availability of passengers and weather.
